We are all told that it is 'normal' to live in the “Survival Mode”. That is how all the animals live. They live to eat, sleep, procreate and die. There is no space for creation in their routines. Then why do we, as humans, have higher faculties of mind to be able to create something out of nothing? Why do we have an awareness that allows us to observe our own thoughts, emotions, behaviors, and be present with our intuition? Why do we have an urge, within ourselves to want to be more, do more, have more, experience more? Perhaps, we, as humans, are a higher manifestation of the Divine, and we have been gifted the talents and abilities to create and manifest the world around us in ways that only the highest power that created us all can.
Why do we end up staying in and living in “Survival Mode” then? More importantly, why do we think that creating something as magnificent as our dreams, would be possible by staying in the “Survival Mode”?! Why don’t we make a conscious effort to move from a fixed mindset to a growth mindset? From an “I know it all” to an “I want to learn something new!”? From “I am a victim to life and I must endure it” to “I am the creator of my circumstances, so let me learn how I can shape them for the benefit of ALL”? Perhaps, we don’t understand who we truly are and what our true powers are. Or, perhaps we don’t realize the actual impacts of living in the “Survival Mode”. The “Survival Mode” is the state of being where we are constantly in fear and worry about our own survival and existence in this physical world. When we are constantly concerned about our own self - our vision becomes narrow and we cannot think beyond our own existence and all possible threats to it. The “Creation Mode” is all about contributing value to others! All creativity is the expression of the Divine to bring love, joy, and celebration to humanity. Then how can creativity exist in the “Survival Mode”? How can growth happen by staying in the self-obsessive tunnel vision? The true impact of living in the “Survival Mode” is that all creativity and growth is sacrificed. All love, joy, and celebration is abandoned. The pursuit of wealth and prosperity turns into a heavy burden instead of being an exciting adventure. Human relationships become a lie, inauthenticity grows at the expense of integrity and truth. Before we know it, our whole life becomes like living a lie, and we suffer. We suffer in more ways than one- physically, mentally, emotionally, spiritually, financially, socially, and environmentally. All human suffering arises from living in the “Survival Mode”. The payoff, of course, is also quite compelling - as by living in the “Survival Mode”, we get to be fixed in our mindset, set in our ways, don’t need to grow or change/adapt, can be “right” and make others wrong, be judgemental of others actions and beliefs, while feeling like a victim all along and not changing a single thought in our own mind. The resistance to change is enormous, and can get harder and harder to break as time goes on. So long as we live in the “Survival Mode”, we are doomed to the limitations of the conscious mind, which only reacts to the surrounding world. We are not open to any new possibilities beyond our past experiences. In order to create abundance and prosperity in our lives, we humans have our creative faculties to tap into, which can only open up by going beyond the “Survival Mode” into the “Creative Zone”. When we fully get present to the impact of the “Survival Mode” we can perhaps begin to contemplate on the possibility of exploring something beyond it, of going into a “Creative and Growth” mode!
